Begun in late 1996 as a nonprofit organization, Sheltered Reality (SR) has dedicated itself to being a youth-oriented project, where youth members in SR use the drums and mission work to empower others to succeed in life and change the world just by using their favorite thing.

Around mid-October in 2005, Sheltered Reality came to Central to do a short service show and an afternoon show. That show caught the attention of Christine White, who had brought Sheltered Reality to Central after she saw them in her hometown of Wichita, Kansas. From the Central show she was appointed The Sheltered Reality Topeka Site Coordinator. The site started with 12 members (including Adrianne Ralston and Andrew Ralston), and the site would reach it's maximum of 26 members. The drummers are willing to do "Whatever It Takes" to keep it going and they have. This October the site will be celebrating it's 7th Anniversary. We will continue to share our message of empowering today's youth throughout the United States.
