Central Congregational Church is one of 5,287 congregations of the United Church of Christ, which has more than a million members, primarily in the United States.  We are a progressive Christian congregation of about 200 members, who try to live by our motto "Where Love and Justice Meet." We are a diverse group of people from all walks of life who have been serving Topeka and the surrounding communities since 1888.  The founding pastor was the Rev. Charles Sheldon, who wrote the famous book In His Steps and originally coined the phrase "What Would Jesus Do?"  Since its founding, Central has been actively engaged in social justice ministries, such as founding the first African-American kindergarten west of the Mississippi River, and these concerns continue today, by being an open and affirming congregation, seeking gender and racial equality and economic and environmental justice.

We also have a lot of fun! Worshiping and eating together, serving in the community, and working for the common good.
